I suppose that it was caused by outdated PHP or some plugin vulnerability. Somehow, hackers / bots were able to install a plugin, that redirected all URLs on the site to porn. I was able to find that plugin, delete it and later update all plugins, PHP and core Wordpress files as well as install some firewall. Recently my wordpress site got hacked and i solved it by reinstalling the backup version of wp-content folder and also running and repairing wordfence plugin in the site. But my website is showing anWordfence IS a security plugin, but I don’t think it adds .htaccess everywhere. If your site is working, you can just ignore the extra .htaccess files.
